Some of the world’s leading physicists believe they have found startling new evidence showing the existence of universes other than our own. One possibility is that the universe is so vast that an exact replica of our Solar System, our planet and ourselves exists many times over. In 1954, a young Princeton University doctoral candidate named Hugh Everett III came up with a radical idea: That there exist parallel universes, exactly like our universe

The new iPad, the iPad 3, the new iPad 3… call it what you want, but it’s a device that from the outside looks remarkably like the iPad 2 but with an overhaul on the innards.
The question most people ask us when it comes to the new iPad is: what’s different from the old one?
Well, in this case it’s pretty easy: there’s a Retina Display that makes everything looks superbly crisp, an updated A5X processor bringing quad-core graphics and a 5MP camera on the rear with a VGA sensor on the front.
Oh, and the iPad 3 is also the device that brings iOS 5.1 to the masses.

Retina Display

Before we get onto all the normal insight over the frame of the new iPad, it’s worth talking about the main feature: the Retina Display.

Apple has packed a huge amount more pixels into the 9.7-inch screen – 1536 x 2048 to be exact. However, despite the fact that the Cupertino brand makes a big thing about the 330 PPI density of the iPhone 4, we’re looking at a screen that’s technically a lot less sharp than its smartphone brethren – around 264PPI.

Key features

  • 9.7″ LED-backlit IPS LCD touchscreen, 2048 x 1536 pixels; scratch-resistant, oleophobic coating

As the complete world now wants to use Android, and IOS to some extent…..NOKIA is keen to use LINUX as its open OS to be installed in the upcoming Smart phones….Lets see whether it could give a tough fight to its competitors APPLE and GOOGLE.

The world’s biggest mobile phone maker, Nokia, could start to use open-source Linux software on its more expensive phone models, a senior company official said on Tuesday. Nokia recently unveiled a smart phone N97 recently.

In the longer perspective, Linux will become a serious alternative for our high-end phones,” Ukko Lappalainen, vice president at Nokia’s markets unit, told in an interview on the sidelines of the “Nokia World” industry conference.

Linux’s role in the handset industry is growing as Google has introduced its Linux-based Android platform, but Lappalainen said Nokia was likely to stick to its own Linux development.

Nokia uses Linux maemo software in its niche offering of Internet tablets, while it uses Symbian software for its phones.

The Nokia N900 runs on the Linux-based Maeme 5 software, featuring true multitasking with applications as well as Web browsing with Adobe Flash support.

Nokia’s workhorse Symbian operating system controls half of the smartphone market volume — more than its rivals Apple, Research in Motion and Google put together. Nokia said Linux would work well in parallel with Symbian in its high-end product range.

On October 23rd, 2001, Steve Jobs introduced the iPod at a special event, showing off a design destined to become iconic. Ten years later, the brand is as strong as ever, though sadly, we have lost its inventor.

iPod   is arguably the most important in Apple’s history. If the iPod failed, Apple would have remained a boutique computer maker prized by designers and schools but able to be safely ignored by the tech world at large.  Instead, the iPod proved to be a powerful wedge, the de facto standard for listening to music for many years. How did the iPod’s original design morph over time? Let’s take a small trip through the evolution of the device that’s arguably the most important in the Apple’s history.

The one that started it all…

The wait for the most anticipated gadget of the year is finally over. While all were hoping for the IPhone 5,the Apple called it as IPHONE 4S and  looks a lot like the iPhone 4, but at least it comes in white right off the bat.

It also has some other nice features that the iPhone 4– namely Siri and a beefed up camera. And of course it will launch with Apple’s new operating system iOS 5.The most significant part of today’s iPhone news, however, is that the device is coming to Sprint (in addition to AT&T and Verizon). This should be huge for both Sprint and Apple.

Let’s have a look at its features….

SIRI

It’s the intelligent assistant that helps you get things done. All you have to do is ask…..

Now you can use your voice to use your iPhone. Just talk to Siri as you would to a person: “Do I need an umbrella?” or “Any great burgers around here?” or “Where’s the closest ATM?” Siri not only understands what you say, it knows what you mean.So when you say “Ant great burgers around here?” then SIRI will reply “I found a number of burger restaurants near you”.Then you can say “How about tacos?” .Siri remembers that you’ve just asked about restaurants so it will show all the Mexican restaurants near your place.

It heilps you do the things you do everyday.Ask Siri to text you dad, remind you to call the dentist ,find directions and it will figure out which apps to use and what you are talking about. From your contacts Siri will know your friends, boss, family members and co-workers.So you can tell Siri things like “Text Ryan I’m on the way”  and it exactly  knows what you mean and what to do.

IPHONE 4S takes dictation. Just your voice.Instead of typing, tap the microphone icon on your keyboard. Then say what you want to say and iphone listens.Tap done and iphone converts your words to text. You  can use dictation to write notes, messages, search the web and more….

Then, just like a personal assistant Siri makes phone calls, sends messages, schedules meetings, sets reminders, and more. How much more? Just ask, and Siri tells you that, too.

DUAL CORE A5 PROCESSOR

It sports a speedy A5 dual core processor ,which runs 2x as fast as the A4 processor  which is present in the present in the present iPhone 4.Two cores in the A5 chip deliver up to two times more power and up to seven times faster graphics. And you’ll feel the effects. Fast. iPhone 4S is quick and responsive, which makes all the difference when you’re launching apps, browsing the web, gaming, and doing just about everything. And no matter what you’re doing, you can keep on doing it. Because the A5 chip is so power-efficient, iPhone 4S has outstanding battery life.

CAMERA

With 8 megapixels and all-new optics, this just might be the best camera ever on a mobile phone.  Perhaps the biggest improvement in iPhone 4S over iPhone 5 is its rear camera. As Apple is taking aim at upending the point-and-shoot camera market, they upgraded the built-in camera to 8 megapixels(from 5mp).But that’s just the tip of the ice-berg.The new camera supports true 1080p HD video(at 3ofps),and even has real-time image stabilization and temporal noise reduction for improving video quality. With new face detection the camera is smart enough to know whether your taking a portrait or a group shot.

Retina display

The sharpest, most vibrant thing you’ll see on iPhone 4S is everything. The Retina display is the highest-resolution phone screen ever. In fact, the pixel density is so high that the human eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels. But without a doubt, you’ll notice crisp text, sharp graphics, and stunning images. It’s more remarkable than the printed page. And you’ll be completely absorbed.

  Icloud

You never know when you’ll suddenly be in the mood to listen to a favorite song or rewatch that hilarious sitcom episode. With iCloud, you can have iTunes automatically download new music purchases to all your devices the moment you tap Buy. You can also access past music and TV show purchases from any of your devices — wirelessly and without syncing. You can create amazing documents and presentations on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. And now with iCloud, you can keep your work up to date across all your iOS devices. You don’t have to save your work or transfer any files. Your documents — with all your latest edits — automatically appear everywhere. Buy a new book from the iBookstore, and iCloud makes sure it appears everywhere — your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Create or edit a doc and it will be upto date on all your iOS devices.

FACE TIME

FaceTime lets you hear a voice and see the face that goes with it — iPhone to iPhone, iPad 2, iPod touch, or Mac over Wi-Fi.5 So no matter where they are, no matter where you are, you’ll always be there. Making a FaceTime call is just as easy as making a phone call. And it’s even easier with Siri. Just tell Siri “FaceTime with Mom” and you show up, smile, and wave hello.

AIR PRINT

Print your email, photos, web pages, and documents right from your iPhone over Wi-Fi.There’s no software to download, no drivers to install, and no cables to connect.  AirPrint printing is 100 percent wireless. iPhone automatically locates and connects to AirPrint-enabled printers on your Wi-Fi network. So whether you’re on the other side of the room or the other side of the house, you can print what you need, when you need it.With just a few taps, you can go from viewing something on the iPhone screen to holding a printed copy.

AIR PLAY

With AirPlay, you can wirelessly stream what’s on your iPhone to your HDTV and speakers via Apple TV. And with AirPlay Mirroring, whatever you see and do on your iPhone appears on your HDTV at the same time. AirPlay Mirroring lets you share exactly what’s on your iPad 2 or iPhone 4S with everyone in the room. Stream web pages, spreadsheets, lessons, games, photos, videos, and more to your HDTV via Apple TV. Just double-click the Home button, swipe all the way to the right, and select AirPlay Mirroring.

Differences between iOS & Android

Filed under: ElectronicsGadgets by Techbook — 5 Comments
June 8, 2011

Now is the Revolution of Touch Phones ( Smart Phones) and Tablet PC’s, many of us are little confused as to choose between a Iphone and an Android Phone….I Think this article would completely relieve you from the confusion….

Apple has its brand name already existed in the market  whereas Android is completely new, introduced by google in the year 2005.

Android versions are difference in tastes which are Cupcake (Android 1.5, Based on Linux Kernel 2.6.27), Donut (Android 1.6, Based on Linux Kernel 2.6.29), Éclair (Android Version 2 and 2.1, Based on Linux Kernel 2.6.29), Froyo (Android Version 2.2 , Based on Linux Kernel 2.6.32) , Gingerbread ( Android Version 2.3, Based on Linux Kernel 2.6.35.7) and Honeycomb (Android Version 3.0 for Tablets). Next version is expected to be Icecream.

Samsung is using Android OS in almost all of its Products from Touch phones to Tablet PC’s….in the future it is expected that Android will be the king of all Operating Systems.

I think that the main reason for Android is it being a open Software and many Apps are available….Apps is the main criterion that distinguishes a better phone from the lot.

(1) Apple iOS is a proprietary operating system whereas Android is Google developed open source operating system.

(2) The latest version of iOS is 4.2.1 and Android is 3.0 (Honeycomb) as at today.(Jan 2011)

(3) Both Apple iOS and Android supports Multitasking.

(4) Android has one more short range communication technology NFC on top of Bluetooth.

(5) Apple iOS supports internet Tethering via Bluetooth whereas Android supports with Hotspot via Wi-Fi

(6) Address book share via MMS vcf is perfectly stores in Android with exactly same label of contacts whereas apple iOS doesn’t not support the perfect lebel.

(7) Google Native clients for Gmail,Youtube ,Google Talk,Maps and Search are perfectly designed in Android and Apple uses Apple Mail client to get emails which will not fully support for Gmail features.

(8) Android supports Social Network contact Sync whereas Apple iOS is not.

(9) Skype video calling is supported by Apple and Android.

(10) Viber VoIP Application is only available for Apple iOS at the moment but official site says android in roadmap.

(11) GTalk video is supported by Android whereas Apple iOS does not support.

(12) Both as user friendly and easy to use.

(13) Since Android could be installed on any hardware, so if you want to change the phone or tablet to other vendor will not make much difference is usage whereas Apple iOS runs on Apple devices only.

(14) Patches and bug fixes will be released by Apple only in Apple iOS whereas in Android there are lots of customised versions from 3rd party developers with immediate fixes.

(15) Android can be customised by Vendors or 3rd Party users but whereas Apple iOS is only developed and fixes by Apple. Downgrade is not possible in Apple iOS officially.

Which one would you prefer????

iPhone: MADE IN CHINA

“God made the world and the rest of all are made in china” – Anonymous

Since 1980, China has become the world’s largest manufacturing resource and potential market. According to an official report, there are nearly 42 million Chinese suppliers exporting their goods to the rest of the world.

Now coming to the point…

Due to their cheap rates china mobiles (especially) are having a wide range of market all across the world. We get duplicates of all the famous gadgets of the world from china. Now here this article may help you in finding the differences between original gadget and its shanzhai (duplicate).

Let’s start with the new crazy iPhone4…

From the above figure we really can’t find iPhone from its shanzai. But with few observations we can find out the dupe… but left one is Chinese iPhone and right one is The iPhone…

By the external looks we can find real and shanzai iPhone. On the back of Chinese iPhone there will be no scribbling. It will be literally plain but original iPhone consists of some information about it as shown.

Here we can simply identify the real and dupe. But if they have overcome this limitation also, then…

Most of the shanzhai’s can be easily found by simply switching on. Start-up tone itself reveals its true identity in most of the cases. And if it you still can’t judge, then we can find out by checking its functioning. There cannot be any competition from any dupe to the Media core processor supplied by MediaTek that never went past 460MHz; but the GPhone version T6 is a breath of shock. It is well crafted and replicates the much desired iPhone 4 in looks, plus it has performance of a powerful Qualcomm processor which really competes with iPhone.

Above is the new GPhone version T6

If the above conditions fail then next chance is that the iPhone 4, the GT6 doesn’t support 4G but it supports both 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity.

And there are some other like…

The complete specs list is not out yet, but there’s definitely a multi touch capacitive display, mini SIM card slot, 3.5mm headphone port, and microphone port.

Like its original counterpart, it has dual camera—5MP rear camera with LED flash and a video camera on the front

These are some of the precautions those can be made to identify an iPhone and its shanzhai…

Imaginary phone lets you answer calls on your palm

Filed under: ElectronicsGadgets by Techbook — 1 Comment
May 22, 2011

Imagine you cannot find or use your phone when it starts ringing. Perhaps it’s fallen into the depths of your sofa, or your hands are wet from washing up or greasy from baking. To decline the call and send it to your messaging service, you press the area of your palm corresponding to the position of the relevant button if you had the phone in your hand. Or you could press the buttons to answer the call and turn on the speakerphone.

Sean Gustafson unlocks his iPhone by swishing a finger across its screen and pecking out a four-digit PIN on its keypad. It’s unremarkable save for one small thing: there is no phone in his hand. Instead, he’s pressing invisible “buttons” on his palm – to operate an imaginary cellphone. And, astonishingly, it works.

The idea is certainly strange, but Gustafson and his colleagues at Potsdam University in Germany think there is a gap in the market for phones and TV remotes like this that don’t actually exist.

For it to work they reason you’d need two things: people who know precisely where the apps are on their physical phone, and a technology that can sense where they are pressing on their hand so a computer can respond and send commands to your phone – wherever it is.

From iPhone to iPalm

To find out how well people know their modern touchscreen phones, the Potsdam trio recruited 12 volunteers from among the iPhone users they spotted in their cafeteria and tested how well they knew the position of their favoured apps without their phone. “We found 68 per cent of iPhone users can locate the majority of their home screen apps on their hand. This means that iPhone use inadvertently prepares users for the use of an imaginary version,” says Baudisch.

Having established a reasonable chance of successfully finding an app’s position on someone’s palm, they then decided to use “depth cameras” – similar to those at the heart of Microsoft’s Kinect motion-sensing gaming system – to detect where someone is pressing on their palm.

The depth camera they used in their tests is a “time-of-flight” device that flashes an invisible infrared pattern on the scene and which uses ultrafast receiver circuitry to time how long it takes the light bathing different parts of the scene to be returned to a sensor. That way, it knows how far all the objects in the scene are from the camera – so when a users’ finger presses on their palm, it registers where and when it does so. The signal is sent to a computer which processes it and then sends the relevant command to your cellphone.

Going ‘all-imaginary’

In their tests, the depth camera was a clunky head mounted device. “But ultimately, we envision the camera becoming so small that it integrates into clothing, such as the button of a shirt, a brooch, or a pendant. So people would not even notice if someone carries an imaginary phone,” Baudisch told New Scientist.

“We envision that users will initially use imaginary phones as a shortcut to operate the physical phones in their pockets. As users get more experienced, it might even become possible to leave the device at home and spend the day ‘all-imaginary’.”

Answering calls on the phone would still require the physical device – but it would be possible to access apps and forward calls to voicemail with the imaginary version.

It’s not all about phones, however: Gustafson is now working out how a TV remote control could be replaced by an imaginary zapper. The team hope to present their work at a conference on user interfaces later this year.

Many of your near and dear ones might have felt very bad when they had lost their vehicles during the night when they have parked them outside or in any unauthorized parking place…. I too had many experiences, one of my friend has lost his bike while he has just parked his bike adjacent to […]

INTEL Vs AMD

When choosing a computer CPU it usually comes down to two choices: AMD or Intel. The CPU wars between these two corporations have been going on for years, even resulting in antitrust charges filed against Intel several times. However no matter what company you prefer, you have to agree that competition is great for the consumers since it drives the prices down and promotes innovation.

It’s a 4.3in TFT touchscreen, boasting a resolution of 1280×720 with 16 million colours .

I guess many of you have heard about vehicles run by water, i also know that many of you have thought that this is confined to a concept and dosent work in real time….but if you go through this article u will be convinced to accept that it is true….

Yes, you can run your car on water. All it takes is to build a “water-burning hybrid” is the installation of a simple, often home-made electrolysis cell under the hood of your vehicle. The key is to take electricity from the car’s electrical system to electrolyze water into a gaseous mixture of hydrogen and oxygen, often referred to as Brown’s Gas or HHO or oxyhydrogen. Typically, the mixture is in a ratio of 2:1 hydrogen atoms to oxygen atoms. This is then immediately piped into the intake manifold to replace some of the expensive gasoline you’ve been paying through the nose for these last couple of months. These simple “kits” will increase your fuel economy and decrease your bills and dependence on foreign petroleum by anywhere from 15 to 300 percent.

Benefits

If water cars could be developed and used by every person then we would have no need to have for gas stations, oil refineries and tankers. There would be no much more require for drilling for oil. The corner gas station would be a distant memory. In addition, the Ozone layer would return to pre-industrial conditions with out any holes and the smog would disappear. Our environment would be a lot cleaner.

Water cars are cheaper. Water costs a lot less than gasoline. And it is quite effortless to get water to fill up your car.

Water cars are significantly better for the environment as they create no emissions. As a result they will not contribute to global warming.

Water is always being produced. It is very unlikely the earth will ever run out of water. And making use of a water-powered vehicle it may support the environment. Water cars, using a procedure known as electrolysis, send oxygen into the atmosphere. The oxygen can bind with hydrogen in the atmosphere to item water in the form of rain and snow.

Disadvantages

Water cars, if they came on the market, would be extremely costly as they cost a lot to generate. Even so, there are developers working to make a less expensive vehicle.

The water cars that are becoming developed these days still use what is called brown gas and it is mixed with water utilizing a approach referred to as electrolysis to produce power for the car. So this sort of water card would still need gasoline. Even so a lot much less gas would be required and it would not have to be as refined to do its job.

There are some skeptics that say the concept of a water vehicle is one large scam and is an impossibility. Only time will tell as there are folks that believe in this procedure and are diligently working to create an powerful and reasonably priced water powered vehicle.

Water cars may well still a dream of the future. However, if they do come to fruition, these amazing low pollution vehicles will be the answer to high gas and oil costs. They will really contribute to the well being of our environment.

These days however we can only rely on conservative driving to get us where we want to go. Or, better however the foot-powered bicycle is a excellent alternative to save on gas and avoid pollution or look to public transportation and shoe leather as alternate means of transportation until the water car is ready for the market.

About Snapdragon

Snapdragon is a family of mobile system on chips by Qualcomm. Qualcomm considers Snapdragon a “platform” for use in smartphones, tablets, and smartbook devices.

The original Snapdragon CPU, dubbed Scorpion, is Qualcomm’s own design. It has many features similar to those of the ARM Cortex-A8 core and it is based on the ARM v7 instruction set, but theoretically has much higher performance for multimedia-related SIMD operations. The successor to Scorpion, found in S4 Snapdragon SoCs is named Krait and has many similarities with the ARM Cortex-A15 CPU and is also based on the ARMv7 instruction set.

All Snapdragon processors contain the circuitry to decode high-definition video (HD) resolution at 720p or 1080p depending on the Snapdragon chipset. Adreno, the company’s proprietary GPU technology, integrated into Snapdragon chipsets (and certain other Qualcomm chipsets) is Qualcomm’s own design, using assets the company acquired from AMD.

Snapdragon chipsets, as of 2011, include a CPU “Krait” (with speeds up to 2.5 GHz), GPU ”Adreno 225″, 2G/3G/4G modem, and severalHexagon DSP coprocessors.

BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) on collaboration with Noida-based company Pantel Technologies, has launched three tablets which  includes one 7-inch screen tablet with resistive screen and it runs on Android 2.3 operating system, while the second comes with 7-inch screen and the third tablet comes with an 8-inch screen, both of which are capacitive but with a higher price.

These tablets are designed keeping in mind the students need, the tablet come with a promotional offer of 3 month free data download. BSNL is also giving 2G SIM along with all the tablets.

Developed by the Noida based company – Pantel technologies. The tablet will be sold at data plans from BSNL at reduced cost. The cost of these tablet will be Rs 3250, Rs 10,999 and Rs 13,500.

Three tablets are:

  • Penta TPAD IS701R
  • Penta TPAD WS704C
  • Penta TPAD WS804C

The cheapest of all three  is Penta T-pad IS 701R  which will cost  Rs 3250, giving a tough competition to Aakash which is priced at just Rs 2500. However, T-pad has better specifications of the tablet, than the DataWind low cost tablet Aakash. We think that this BSNL tablet will appeal a lot students as the technical specification out-weight both the Aakash tablets.

Penta T-Pad IS 701R is a tablet with Wi-Fi only (no SIM card slot, but you can attach 2G/3G USB modem via the USB port) and Android 2.3 (Ginger Bread) operating system. It has a 1 GHz processor (ARM11 IMAP210) combined with 256 MB of DDR2 RAM. This entry level tablet from Pantel is 3-times as fast than the first Aakash and 300MHz faster than Aakash2 (Ubislate7), theoretically.

The tablet also offers HDMI port through which it can be connected to an HDTV. Its 7-inch resistive touchscreen comes with a 800×600 resolution (which looks great on 7-inch screens) and 16:9 ratio wide-screen display.

The tablet also comes with gravity sensor (G-sensor) which can orient the display in portrait and landscape when turned and also aids in motion gaming, something that was missing in Aakash.

Penta T-pad IS 701R has a battery rating of 3000mAh, which is expected to last for about 5-5:30 hours of video watching, which is certainly not bad considering laptops too give that much of battery life.

The internal memory is 2GB, but it can be extended via microSD cards upto 32GB.

It also has a front-facing 0.3MP camera for video chat and one standard USB port to accommodate pen-drives or other USB devices along with support for USB modems/net dongle, so that you can surf the internet, talk on Skype, watch YouTube videos, read e-books and open PDF files too.

Differences between Aakash and Penta Tablets

UbiSlate will be powered by Android 2.3 and will have a resistive touchscreen, Cortex A8-700 MHzprocessor and graphics accelerator, an HD video processor, 256 MB of RAM and 2 GB of internal memory. Besides, it will have one standard USB port, a 3.5 mm audio jack, a 7 inch display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution, GPRS, and WiFi support.

The 7 inch Aakash tablet has Android 2.2 operating system, an Arm 11 366 MHz processor, a 2100 mAh battery, WiFi, and support for a 3G modem. UbiSlate7+ has the same specifications as UbiSlate except for the additional SIM and phone functionality.

On the other hand, Penta IS701R is a WiFi-only tablet with Android 2.3 operating system, a 1 GHzprocessor and 256 MB of RAM. The tablet has an HDMI port through which it can be connected to a TV. Its 7 inch resistive touchscreen has 800 x 600 pixel resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio.

The tablet has a 3000 mAh battery and 2 GB internal memory that can be expanded through a micro SD card. It also has a VGA front facing camera for video calling.

In terms of specifications BSNL’s tablet has an edge over Aakash.
